Introduction
Wuhan is a historic city where ancient heritage and modern development meet along the Yangtze River, embodying the river's fluidity and enduring beauty. As the city pursues its vision of becoming a "City of a Thousand Parks" through pocket gardens, this project builds on existing mountain-and-water park concepts, proposing a high-line park strategy. Inspired by James Turrell's floating art, the design enhances the sense of suspension within the High Line, creating an art-like park. Since the elevated section is currently demolishable, the design extends the existing elevated section to create a floating urban observation deck. Pergolas provide shade and obstruct unfavorable views. Artistic clouds are suspended from the pergolas, echoing the floating concept. With structures floating above these artistic clouds, the High Line itself becomes a floating work of art.
