Introduction
The abbey building, currently in a state of disuse. Dates back to the 11th century, it was built by charlemagne in the eighth or ninth century. The design aims to propose a sacred gathering place that can inspire people to think. This abbey can be a place of silence, prayer, peace and inner joy. The overall atmosphere is sacred, regardless of whether the worshipers are religiously related or not. The wall of the historical site is extended upward into a new wall, and the roof is placed suspended on the extended wall. A cross-shaped light gap is split in the middle of the thin shell-like roof, and then extends to all sides. Vistor suddenly move from a closed, dark space into a watery atrium where light enters from the sky, and then into an open and transparent meditation room with cross lights. This instant change is like a surreal montage.
